The Turnbull government has announced 14,000 new high-level home care packages for older Australians so people can stay in their own places for longer.

Currently, demand for in-home care for the elderly has reached such high levels that those in need of the highest-level care packages could be forced to wait more than a year for the help they need.

An Aged Care Assessment is scheduled by appointment through the Australian government’s My Aged Care, in which a nurse, and potentially a social worker, will visit you at your home to determine whether you are eligible for government funding, as well as what level of care you will need.
